Sustainable management, resource efficiency and climate protection—this is what Cluster Wald + Holz NRW stands for. The project, run by the Landesbeirat Holz NRW [State Advisory Council for Wood NRW], aims inter alia to promote cooperation between existing regional wood clusters as well as between companies and scientific institutions. It also aims to communicate innovative products and processes. This will certainly include the project ClusterWIS in which the RIF Institut für Forschung und Transfer e.V. in Dortmund, the Institute for Man-Machine Interaction at the RWTH Aachen University, CPA ReDev GmbH from Siegburg and the Chair of Forest Growth and Yield Science of the Technical University of Munich participate.
The project enables a sustainable raw material management and efficient use of wood and biomass - in the entire forest and wood cluster in North Rhine-Westphalia. The central prerequisites created help to reconcile the steadily increasing demand for the raw material wood from sustainably managed forests on the one hand and the requirements of climate change, environmental protection and society on the other. Sustainable raw material management requires the introduction of new planning and consulting methods as well as the further development and networking of existing work processes.
