GAPP - Gamification Against Phantom Pain

It is almost impossible for somebody who has never experienced it to imagine: the amputation of a body part—following an accident, illness or operation. A lot of things suddenly become very important. How does the affected person handle the situation physically and mentally? How will they deal with a potentially visual flaw? What about their job? Will they still be able to do it? Or will they have to find something new?

The project GAPP, which stands for "Gamification Against Phantom Pain," aims to help this. The project is a collaboration between Kaasa Health GmbH from Düsseldorf and KSG Klinik-Service-Gesellschaft mbH from Cologne. The project uses innovative technologies, such as virtual reality training programs. These are not only significantly cheaper than the current alternative treatments, but are also free of side effects, do not require prescriptions and achieve the same results.
